Capital Campaign

It is with a strong sense of pride and commitment that we celebrate Congregation Shir Ami’s 60th anniversary with our Anniversary Capital Campaign. With this campaign we hope to secure the legacy and shape the future of Congregation Shir Ami here in Castro Valley, California.

We are proud to say that we are able to stay within our budget in spite of rising costs.  However, membership dues only allow us to barely meet our operating costs.  Through careful stewardship, our reserve funds lasted several years, but they have been mostly depleted by redoing our parking lot and installing a new ceiling in the sanctuary – both badly needed.

We ask that you consider what you can do to help secure our unique Jewish presence in Castro Valley and, indeed, the entire East Bay.  We hope you will join us in the mitzvah of sustaining Jewish life in our cherished community!

The Anniversary Fundraiser’s goal is to raise $400,000 over the next five years, which will sustain Congregation Shir Ami by allowing us to:

  • Rebuild our reserve funds – moneys badly needed for unexpected major expenses
  • Preserve Shir Ami’s building through repairs and renovations as needed
  • Modestly increase our annual budget to allow us to improve our offerings to children and young families and to enrich our entire Jewish community

Please give whatever your heart encourages and your means allow. Gifts of any amount are welcome, and they will be acknowledged in a scroll of donors (names listed alphabetically, without amounts).

  • You can give through Zelle. Use the email address 60thAnniversary@CongShirAmi.org to designate Congregation Shir Ami.
  • You can print and mail in our donation form with a check.
  • Please see our brochure for more information (or just to admire its beauty).

Please join us in securing the legacy and shaping the future of Congregation Shir Ami. If you have any questions, feel free to contact any member of the Anniversary Campaign Committee.

Thank you for your support of this precious community!
